Students who include a foreign language as well as work in area or international and global studies in their planned doctoral work may be eligible for a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship. The award comes with a one-year stipend and fee remission. U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible.
Applications for these fellowships are submitted through specific area studies programs or through the Center for the Study of Global Change. IU has a greater number of area studies programs than most universities. The deadline is February 1.
