Department of Gender Studies

This course examines how gender and other social categories shape and are shaped by technology for both individual consumers and society at large. The course engages with technology as a site of power in which new and existing inequalities, forms of exclusion, and methods of resistance play out and gain meaning. Topics include: social media, reproductive technologies, algorithmic bias, digital activism, video games, and space exploration.
